MEMS will open new fields of investigation

• MEMS are full silicon objects, manufactured in clean rooms.
• Easy integration thanks to their small dimensions: a few hundred µm thick for 1 or 2 cm² sections;
• Specific designs allowing performances impossible to achieve with standard macro-systems (like high frequencies oscillations).
• Very low energy consumption.

Flowdit’s major breakthroughs

Improved manufacturing processes
We optimized the fabrication process to improve the reliability and robustness of the MEMS (reduced fabrication steps and full SOI systems).

Conception and fabrication of MEMS actuators
We designed and tested a pulsed micro-jet for flow control.
We could reach high jet velocities and high frequencies.

We also developed and manufactured a specific MEMS actuator containing 3 micro-jets on a single system. A set of devices has been integrated in the roof of the last Citroën concept-car “C-SportLounge”,unveiled in the International Motor Show Cars in Frankfurt (12 sept.2005).
